This is the Mavaball Wiki, which is the main homepage for Matthew Vaughn Ball (more commonly Matt Ball). If you've seen my name somewhere and am trying to find out who I am or what I've done, this should be a good place to start.

You can contact me at matt.ball at this domain.

General Links

  • Matt Ball's Linked-in Homepage - This has the most up-to-date information about my job history and other facts interesting to perspective employers.
  • Heisencoder.net - My personal blog. The name is a play on words, relating the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle with software coding, where the act of measuring the code tends to change the result. The topics vary, but tend to focus on programming and information security.
  • 2010 IEEE Key Management Summit - A summit on cryptographic key management, held on May 4-5, 2010 at Lake Tahoe, NV. I was the program chair.
  • 2008 IEEE Key Management Summit - The first Key Management Summit, held in Baltimore, MD. I was the program chair here as well, and started off the whole series.
  • IEEE Security in Storage Working Group - I'm currently the chair of this group, which focuses on creating IEEE standards for information security of data storage.

Software Code Samples

  • Keyfixer - A Mozilla-compatible (i.e., Firefox, Thunderbird) Extension to change the key bindings on Mac OS X to match those of Windows
  • Show More Recipients - A Thunderbird 3.0 extension that shows up to 10 recipients before displaying the 'more' link. (Note: This is fixed in Thunderbird 3.1, so the extension is not needed for version 3.1 and higher)
  • Freecell solver written in Scheme (look down about half-way for the solver portion). This is available as part of the Aisleriot solitaire package of Gnome Games. The solver is implemented as part of the help feature for the Freecell game.
